Friends of the school
WHO ARE WE?
Burnsall Friends is a group of parents who meet each half term to arrange fundraising events to pay for the fabulous little extras that our children enjoy, such as the pantomime or musical, art and drama workshops, or to help to pay for equipment that the school feels would be of benefit to our children’s learning.
As a small school, our numbers are limited, so every parent is very welcome to come along and see how they could help. We play other varied roles within the school year, be it serving refreshments, gardening or organising Sports Day, so there is always something that you can offer.
Friends of Burnsall is a registered charity. The group currently has an elected chair, May Blair, and a team of parents who work alongside the school; we organise and run fundraising events for the school community.
WHAT IS OUR AIM?
Our aim is to use the funds raised to enhance the experiences of every child in the school, from improving sporting facilities to extending the range and access pupils have to excellent reading material.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY RAISED GO?
In recent years we have raised funds towards:
- New school library
- Plants for school garden
- New furniture for class 1
Friends of Burnsall School also provide gifts for our Y6 leavers, refreshments at sports day, refreshments after school performances, Christmas crackers for the Christmas lunches and a ‘gift from Santa’.
WHAT TYPE OF EVENTS/ACTIVITIES DO WE DO?
In the past couple of years we have organised the following events:
- Popular fancy dress disco’s at the Craven Arms
- Afternoon teas
- BBQs to welcome new parents to Burnsall School
- Sponsored walks
- Craft stalls at local events
- Bake sales
